Hey guys. I am working on finishing the TDR The Annodized Look Hilborn fuel injection system for my Hemi and I was wondering how best to get that annodized look.

I was thinking of trying to finish it out with silver spray paint and then shoot a coat of clear blue paint over that. Is this the right approach?

    Thanks

Dead on Tim........the closer you can get the base coat The Annodized Look to chrome or gold, the better the effect will be. Krylon now makes top coats for this purpose, I think they are called "Krylon Specialty Paints". I saw them at Wally World. Krylon paints go on smoothly and dry quickly, a big plus for me is that it comes in inexpensive large aerosol cans instead of those little rattle cans. I have a set of 1/6th chrome plated The Annodized Look Hemi valve covers that I'm going to test it out on, I'll post pics of the results.

You can also get the similiar effect spraying Candy paints over the chrome or aluminum parts as well.

I think I saw something out of the Duplicolor or Plastikote product catalog that was called anodized paint. The way I always did it was to spray clear colors over the brightest silver paint I could find.

A little flat clear over the candy would give it the right look. Anodizing usually isn't glossy.

Thanks guys. There appears to be more than one way to skin this cat.

I have seen a few postings about semi flat and flat clear coats. I have never seen these for sale anywhere. Any hints, short of mail order, of where I can find them?

    Thanks again guys

    Tim,
Check at Home Depot or Lowe's in the spray paint sections, or if all else fails, your local hobby shop should have the small testors cans of flat or semi-gloss clear.
