Krylon paint ok to use?

I was just wondering if using Krylons satin black for that rat rod look would be wise to use on painting the body of the Deuce or should I just stick with the Testors paints. Anyones opinion would be greatly appriciated.

I've used several different brands of paint and Krylon is one that I particularly like if used correctly. They have some very good colors and it can be polished fairly well. I know some of the cans say you don't need a primer but I disagree on that. Krylon does have a dark gray primer that works very well but you need to apply it in several mist coats and let them dry well before you apply the wet coats. A number of thin coats is way better than a few thick coats. You can always sand out defects and respray as needed or just sand and leave the matt finish. I'd try it out on some scrap first just to make sure you get the results you want.

Why oh why can't they sell this product here in OZ I know when I was playing around with Pochers all the USA Pocher guys were raving about the stuff .
To my knowlege here in Australia we have nothing in aerosol can that compares to Krylon, it's perfectly safe to use on plastic and will not attack the surface well this is what I have been told by people that have used it ! I do agree with Jeff though you will need to use a primer before color to give good toothing & coverage.

I use Krylon as well. I never have much cared for those "little" rattle cans. There never seems to be enough paint in the can, they spit & spew at the worst posible times.....usually the last finish coat! Besides they cost about as much as the big Krylon cans. If I'm not custom mixing & airbrushing ....it's Krylon for me.

Sean I would suggest that perhaps one of the members could send you some....but it may be considered Hazmat. I seem to recall sending paint overseas through UPS in another life. It had to be packaged properly & a form filled out. You might try contacting a Krylon dealer here in the States to see if they will ship directly to you.

Well it's working good for me so far, got the frame painted satin black and it turned out good, not going for show car status, so I'm happy with it. Still deciding what color to paint the engine block and suspension parts. The Krylon selection at our Hobby Lobby does have a wide variety of different colors you wouldn't find with Testors.

It's funny you mention the 'rattle cans' Don because Krylon also comes in 3 oz. cans also for those little projects. Didn't know that until recently.
