    Travel Air!
The name is an instant trip into a past of wires and cabanes,of leather and bravado. The name conjures up images of those long gone pastures, green and rimmed with trees, the early dew on the blue grass ,and a biplane gracefully flaring to touchdown. The plane rolls to an unhurried stop, and the pilot blasts the tail around to taxi back, the wings rocking over the grass in a hint of a swagger. There maybe faster ways to travel, but few airplanes possess the character and class of a Travel Air.
Even though progress threatens to wipe out pasture flying,it will never catch up with such charmers as the Travel Air.The past several years has seen many doomed, and nearly extinct, birds take to the air again but Wendell Reid of Montreal has just completed the machine that may well reign as king of the antiques for some time to come-Naturally it is a Travel Air. to be cont....

    Hi all,
John's pictures are real time travellers. Here are a few old aero photos, taken by a man named Larry Ballo, whom I never met but whose widow one day handed me an envelope of old black and whites, and even sepias, to do with as I wished. She was clearing clutter from her place. I immediately told her of their historical value, scanned the pictures, and returned them with advice to make sure her kids and grandkids got them. I have many more of these, will dribble them onto the site if there is interest.
    enjoy!

I was wondering what is the story behind sepia pics as opposed to B&W?

    Hi John,
The color variations in the pictures may be from time and the elements. None of the originals were very big, so will not always blow up well. Here are a few more aero pictures. Some of them were taken at Moffett field north of San Jose California, the zeppelin shed identifies that, and other pictures in the envelope were from that part of the state. There are some other pictures of cars and trucks, and some that look like news photos of flood and fire. Apparently the man traveled, there are also pictures from China in the 1930s. These were "clutter" to be chucked. How much history has been lost to neatness?
