Hmmmmmmmmm................1/8th and maybe an art deco tricycle to go with it?
Confused yet or figuring I've lost those last few good brain cells?
Rats! No baseball cards. I love that art deco trike. That would go great with a 1/8 scale pocher build. I've always loved pedal cars. When I was 4, I had a Garman white Kiddilac. It Looked like a 54 Caddy with the words Fire Chief on the sides. I hated when I got too big for it. I'd love to build it in 1/8 scale.

Guess what? TDRneeds a break from the brain strain and thought something fun might be in order. We are going to make it happen....back to basics.
The kit will have the body parts for both cast in resinand include a set of full size plans for you guys to fab up (brass or copper heavy gauge wire) working pedal mechanism. The rims will be cast and all the sizes for o-ring tires and hardware will be included. We may include the wire stock and o-rings in the kit.....we'll see.
If you are a box stockbeginner it'll challenge your modeling skills a bit.....if you are a little more experienced....a set of the "Flying Merkel" wheels would look spiffy on the trike. Thanks to Uli, he has a post up on how he made them.

I can guarantee you that, as long as I'm one of the owners of TDR, we will NEVER produce any of those stupid "Cry Babies". Motorized bar stools.......well, perhaps one day we'll play with some more "toys".
As most of you know, we have several projects in R&D. Two of them, the Allison and the Offy (masters) are in the hands of a couple of our members and are being tweeked prior to going to the caster. Tim is getting close to finishing his end of the Hemi project and the wheels and tires. We hope you'll bear with us because starting a new venture like this takes time and money and we won't send anything to the market until its perfect.
In the meantime, if we can crank out a couple of quick and fun items like the trike and pedal car, we will. Perhaps we can even turn it into a build contest. Stay tuned there's more comming.
Mike, can you be more specific about the sprint car style, as there are some variations through out the years you stated. How about posting a photo or two of what you are looking for. There's a good chance it may already exist, as I've never put out the info to the public. Let's see what you're looking for, as a surprise may be just around the corner !!!!!!

Forget about all those plastic cars you can get in WalMart and Toys R Us. Give me the old time pedal cars every time.
When I was a little tyke, I had a Garman Kiddilac which was based on a 54 Cad. I'm not sure if Garman was the biggest company but they put out a whole series of different color Kiddilacs. Mine was all white and was the firechief's car. I have a picture of myself in that car. If I can find it, I'm going to post it in this section. I was the happiest 4 year old on the block. Then in 56, somebody put out the Thunderbird Junior which was an electric car. I would have given body parts for that thing but never got it. Funny thing was, I've never heard about it or have ever seen hide nor hair of it since. Anybody else remember that car?

You lucky dog....you had those fancy toys. Mine was a hand me down tricycle that my Dad helped me put an old barley running lawn mower engine on...probably had more fun than you 'til I ran it into the lake (no brakes)...learned to swim at an early age.![]()

Kind of funny you bring this up. I don't remember having a pedal car but just yesterday I found a photo of my Go Kart. Circa late 70's with a McCullough chainsaw engine.
Grampa gave it to me when I was about 8 or 9. I remember taking it out for its first run behind my house in the Korean Church parking lot. They hated that thing.
Well anyways first time around the lot and BAMM!!! right into the corner of a huge steel trash can. Ripped the steering wheel clean off and caved in the front axle.
Grampa just smiled, took it home, fixed it up and had it back the next day. Sure do miss those wheels, and Gramp's.
