    Hello Everyone!

First of all let me say I know nothing about scales, motors, or cars... I just happened to come across a large box in my basement with a brand new model car in it. I don't know what to do with it. Sell it? Pitch it? My husband thinks it could be worth something. I don't know. So this is the beginning of my research on it! I apologize if this isn't in the correct forum, please feel free to move it if needed. Could anyone here help me or at least point me in the right direction?

Hi Tammie, I'm not sure either if this is the right forum, but I'll answer here anyway. We'll soon find out if any of the Mods want to remove it to another location. It seems to me that you might have the so called K74 kit (judging by your header), which is the black Mercedes four seat Cabrio, also known as the Spezial Cabrio. You could probably get a few hundred Dollars for it, depending on its condition. Does the box top have the side view artwork or a picture of the built model on it? Is it really unstarted or has someone worked on maybe the engine and/or the chassis? Do the metal parts show corrosion, are the small parts still in their plastic bags stapled to the inside of the flip lids? All these things will deterine how much you can get for it. Maybe you can upload some pictures.
If it's one of the other Mercedes kits, its value can change significantly, like for the K82 or K91. As a rule of thumb, the black one is the most common, then there's the white one. If it's red, even a started kit might fetch a high price. Does if have the metal pin spokes or plastic wheels?

Thanks so much for replying. After reading your reply, I took all out of the box and you were right, someone did start working on it. I can understand why they didn't continue... there are sooo many pieces! Wow!
Anyway, it appears that it is not in the original box. I think I will just list on Ebay for $10 and see where it goes from there. I was just expecting to throw it out, so any $ from it would be great. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me.
