I'm sure that Scale Motorcars & TDR Let's chat...... will also be sponsors.
So........what are we going to call it?
We need to establish a name so that we can get this thing moving and you guys can start figuring out what you going to build.

The 1st Annual Scale Motorcars ??
    Suggestions please................

Been away from the computer for awhile and just got a chance to look in and see whats been happening. I applaude all the great ideas and the great generosity of the members here. I was a lucky winner with my Tyrrell this year and was just over joyed to receive the belly tanker that was donoted as a prize! I hope the contest will continue as a yearly event and I would not mind donating tword it.
Thanks to all who make this site so great!

The different classes like kit model, scratch built Let's chat...... , etc. is a great idea. I'll be glad to donate $25.00 for that contest or what ever you come up with.

Well gang, the decision has been made to do a yearly "event" here at SMC.
Dan is working up a way for you to send sponsor donations to a Pay Pal account for cash donations (all of these donations will be used for prizes either in the form of cash or goods for event awards). He'll do a post in this thread with details.

The event itself will be sponsored for the most part by Scale Motorcars and it's members.
There will be other sponsors but it's your contest/show.

Dan and I are working out all the bugs and setting up classes etc. based on your likes & dislikes. What I'm trying to get across with this thread is that here is your opportunity to "finally' have an event that you feel is fair and enjoyable for everyone.

It's going to be online...so no travel time or set-up is needed to strut your stuff. Being a yearly event will allow you an entire year to finish your entries. You will be able to do in progress threads (encouraged) or just post your entry pics before the cut off date.

So speak up guys....you know what sours you on contests in general and what puts a grin on your mug, so let's get this thing right from the get go.

BTW......the contest will open to moderators, sponsors and staff cause we won't be involved in the judging...you members will!
At the close of the event a poll will be posted for you members to "click your picks Let's chat...... " on the forum and you'll see the results as they come in....how easy is that?
There will be no complaints about unfair or biased judging because each and every one of you is an "Official Event Judge" whether you enter or not. Fair 'nuff.

I really like this format Don.

I'm partnered with MF on a very exciting new 8th scale body and when its ready it will be introduced on SMC by MF.

I'll be donating one of the bodies as a contest prize.

When the next contest is announced, I will be donating this 8th scale fibreglass Anglia body as a prize.

Anyone interesting in purchasing a body should contact MF via PM for price and shipping information.

Well fellow members, the folks behind the scenes have read through and given all your suggestions a good deal of consideration. Now it's time for the nuts & bolts, rules, what's eligible and what's not...etc. etc.

As I've said before the show/contest will be a yearly event here at SMC.
We want everyone to understand right up front that it's your event.....it will be sponsored, judged and so on by you.

There will (naturally) have to be some rules & guidelines to keep it fair for everyone regardless of skill level or the amount of money invested in your builds......in other words the primary goal of SMC is for it to be enjoyable and fun for anyone that cares to participate.

I'm going to leave this post up for a few days and then dump this thread to be replaced by an announcement with all the rules and boiler plate stuff.

I can tell you at this point that the 1st Annual SMC show/contest will run from April 1st (April Fool's Day) 2011...that's easy to remember, huh? to March 31st 2012.....that gives you an entire year to complete your model. There will also be a "primer table" for unfinished entries because we understand all too well how life's problems tend to get in way of hobby time.

If anyone has any other suggestions they'd like to express...do it now!
Once I post the guidelines......that will be what we follow.

Rick and I will oversee the event so any questions, beefs etc. should be directed to one or the other of us. We'll do whatever is necessary to resolve any of those matters to the best of our abilities.
