Hi, browsing through this forum I found the following picture.
Question is this the real McCoy or is it a model car in 1/8 scale as described in the text?????

I have still two dream cars I would like to own:
The Mercedes 300SLR and a Shelby Cobra in 1/8 scale.
Yesterday night I have found another 300SLR in 1/8 scale, completely built from scratch. Very new in a German model car forum. I try to get in contact with the builder of the car.

Years ago a German factory made a few Cobras in 1/8 scale, but no change to find one.
    I appreciate any information.
    Thank you in advance
    Wolfgang

    Hello Wolfgang,

have a look at Diamond Cars - High Class Vintage Car Models 1/8th scale. They're selling the !/8 th Gullwing Mercedes. A little pricey, but looking good. The 427 Cobra was produced by B&G GmbH, Duesseldorf. An amount of about a hundred kits were produced, but were stopped by brand issues of Carrol Shelby. Some of them are around in the net, but they need a whole lot of reworking.

    Cheers

Wolfgang, check with TDR I would like to know?? . They're putting out a 427 Cobra in 1/8. They'll be able to tell you when it will be available.

Jeff, just for the record.... TDR I would like to know?? is doing the "TDR 427 Roadster"!
    It's 1/8th, and it's a model.

There is a (shake down) pre-production prototype being posted & built on several different forums including here at SMC.

Hello Michael, thank you very much for this stanning link. I don't know why I did not find this link. Since weeks I browse the internet for 1/8 scale models. And now here it is close to my door. In the near future I will get in contact with this man.
Many years ago I got a lot of advertisments from the B&G GmbH of Duesseldorf. Excellent pictures and so on. But have thrown it away and then I started my own car project and lost interest in car (making knives and collecting guns).
But now...I think the Cobra is one of the most "erotic" cars.
But the Mercedes 300SLR is of course a nice car too.

    Regards
    Wolfgang

Diamond's Gullwing is certainly the most faithful version out there, though it does not appear to have an engine or they would have shown it. Minor criticism: The dash panel should have raised metal rings to hold the chrome gauge bezels, and the grille mesh should really have a diagonal, not horizontal, pattern. Otherwise, looks like they got everything right.
