I recently purchased some independent suspension parts from Garey Bell, (see photo). Garey's work is excellent quality. Those parts have now arrived and I'm about to embark on building a new Deuce. This one will use the RM frame rails and one of Garey's IFS kits.

I started by glueing the kit supplied X members to the frame rails and setting the frame in the jig to check for proper set up. Next, the chassis will be removed from the jig, the X members will be removed and the rails will be boxed. The rails will then return to the jig and the GB IFS front X member will be installed along with scratchbuilt center X members and one of Dan's Ford 9" rear ends suspended on coilovers. More photos will follow.

You're right. Garey's work is beautiful. Post some of the pics when you get the chassis assembled.

The Rickster is a bud of mine so I'm going to have a bit of fun with him on this project. All that fancy suspension and a boxed frame deserves a sweet body right? Okay Rick ol' pal...I'm sending you a Deuce cowl, a couple of custom dash boards and whatever help you need to build a Woody. You up to it? Hee, Hee.

Oh wow, You have to do that Rick. A custom woody with a board sticking out of the rear hatch.

What are buddies for eh.......answer the call and do it, right? OK Don, you've got a deal, but probably not with this frame cause I've already got plans for it as a fenderless car. Its real easy to start another frame for the woody build though. Hey, I might even do a real trick fenderless body.

Now that I have the chassis jig set up, I've removed the kit X members from the frame rails and boxed them. The photo shows the boxing plate clamped to the frame rail for glueing. Once the boxing plates have been been trimmed, the rails will go back to the jig and the IFS, custom center X members and rear end will be mounted.

Next in line is the tin frame (see photo) from Real Stuff. Its going to have round tube center X members, an Indy style IFS from Garey and one of his new IRS kits. This frame is going to be an all out build with tons of trick pieces.

How about an e-mail address for Real Stuff . That tin frame looks great.

Sorry Fuzzy, there never was a web site and I'm told that they are no longer in business. I believe it was basically a one man deal and he made 8th scale tin roadsters to order. I bought mine many years ago and they were not cheap. Keep an eye on Ebay, they periodically show up there. I've included a photo of mine. It dosen't look "right" only because I put the body on the frame and the frame on the suspension just for the photo so you could see the quality.

I remember seeing that body somewhere. I think I did see one like that on eBay.

I have one of the Real Steal roadsters. A friend of mine bought 3 into Australia when they were first being made. I was lucky enough to get one and yes they weren't cheap especially with the exchange rate at the time.
I lowered mine a little and shot it with a couple of coats of clear. It sits out here in the garage, makes for great garage art.
Didn't know they weren't being made any more.
Mine came with the Duval windshield, but it is pretty ordinary; so I left it off.
Rick, I am looking forward to your chassis builds. Mine will always be left as it is. If it was painted and all that it could be just another Big Deuce. Although the Real Steal bodies are nowhere near as sharp in the bodies as the Monogram bodies.

How does one (or two) get in contact with Garey Bell? Thanks.
