Hello Im New please bear w/me very nice work on here I think im in the right section I build cars w/ aluminum /brass Im working on a bantam type racer about 17 inch long and about 5 inches wide and about 4 inch in height and was looking to make Body louvers like hot rods have I have tried a small chishel and punch but it distorts the surounding area though so thats my little dilema today I have looked evrywhere and this site has the best models I have seen Im not good w/ the computer I want to post pics any help w/ that will be great also. Thanks john

Welcome John, your in the right place.

There should be a few buys here that can help you with the louvers. If you could post some photos in the Cars Forum with the materials your using Im sure someone will help out.

Now for posting photos its really very easy.

#1 take a digital photo and upload it to your computer.
#2 When you post a reply look below the editing box. You will see a button called (Manage Attachments) Click that and a pop up window with browse buttons will appear. Click each button and add your photo to each then click upload. You can add up to 20 photos to each post. Its really very easy, just follow the steps.

Xken, which book of Wingrove's was that found in. I must not have gotten that one as I have several books by him and do consider them as some of the best on how to on metalworking for models.

Tracing on 0,3 mm brass sheet:




Cutting:



Fixation with a scraper blade ( trapezoidal section) and opening with a fine scriber…



It's ready!

Now this is an interesting process. I like how he made this adjustable for the louvre length. I have some louvres to make and I may give this a try.
