It is really 1/12 I have the engine,, the Revell and the Borrani rims in my stack ....maybe one day

The engine is 1:12 and the Borrani wheels that Uli does are just as gorgeous as the engine! I have had the Revell 1:12 250 GTO and was not happy with it's quality. I would be happy to build a 1:12 GTO from scratch but I don't think I could pull off the body. If I had kept the 1:12 GTO I could have used that body to build a mold to do it in fiber glass but it is long gone. I do have the 1:24 Revell germany 1:24 250 GTO but to have it scanned, rescaled and printed would cost me over a grand for the body alone.

My mistake.
I've been looking at the Autograph C Type engine which is 1/8.
I assumed the GTO engine was the same.

if the body is the only problem, why not build a 250 GTO rolling chassis?

The Revell 1/12 looks a great base to start with, it's a lot of work but but i think it's worth the work.
On the other side, it's maybe a little pity to put such a detailed engine in an engine bay, a lot of
the detail disappear.

Compared to this engien kit the 1:12 Revell diecast is a dog. I could see using the body for a pattern to form a buck out of for making copies but even that only after a ton of work fixing panel lines and such. If I still had it I would be more then willing to do the work and produce some amazing fiberglass bodies but I don't have it any longer so...

It is a beautiful engine kit and if it is half as good as other stuff I've had in my hands from Autograph it will be stunning when built. It is one of those kits though that I will only work on when I am in the mood for specifically this build. Other wise it could go terribly wrong in a big hurry.

The postman cometh bearing a beautiful toy! I have opened the outer box and the inner box and taken inventory. Short of counting each individual screw it appears to all be present (Not surprizing from Uli.) and really well made (Again, not surprizing from Uli.)

After soaking the resin pieces in bleach and a very minor bit of clean up I think it is safe to say that this is quite possibly the closest thing to perfect I have ever seen in resin ! Yes, there is some minor filling to do and a bit of flash but that's resin . The cast white metal looks to be just as good and I am sure that in a year or two I will have a stunning replica of a 1962 Ferrari Columbo V12 in 1:12 scale. Maybe by then I will be able to afford to add the Borrani wheels to the display.
