        I know this isn't a large scale airplane, but it will be very detailed in every way I can think of. I've ordered Eduards Photo Etch Kits, True Details Resin B-17 Flying Fortress parts, Squadron B-17 Flying Fortress Canopies, and as you can see by the pictures below, scratch building a lot of components. All flight surfaces will move as well.

        Picture 1 - Tail Wheel Assembly before soldering together
        Picture 2 - Tail Wheel Assembly soldered up and in place. The jack screw support was too big so I made another one.
        Picture 3 - Tail Bulkheads, Tail Wheel Housing ready for paint. I'll make the canvas after the housing is installed
        Picture 4 - Elevator hinge components
        Picture 5 - Elevator attached to the Horizintal Stab with a hinge pin
        Picture 6 - Elevators in the down position
        Picture 7 - Elevators in the up position

      Hey Rob, if you keep all the pics in the gallery, it'll take the place of the clear sides. Whenever you refer to the B17, you just have to refer people to the gallery to show off the insides.

      Not much progress. The waist gunners stations are complete less gun pivots. Maybe tomorrow. I did start the radio room and raised floor around the ball turret and after that is in place, I'll scratch the ball turret.

      Started working on her again today. Scratch built B-17 Flying Fortress two wood floors for the waist gunners compartment and the radio room. Bulkheads are taking shape and the bomb bay is moving forward. Tomorrow, I'll work on the radio room Eduards parts that will make this area pop to life.

      I was in the middle of doing one of these. Now I think I've got to tear it all apart to make it better. Great work, Rob. This is one of the best treatments of this kit I've ever seen. I've been inside the real thing a number of times and it looks perfect.

      Some of my better or worse ideas happen in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping. Well, last night I woke up with this idea to remove sections of the fuselage on one side to expose the inner workings. I'll add stringers to the removed areas. What do you think? Good or bad idea?

      Do it! Perhaps a mini dio is in order with a maintenance crew replacing bullet riddled panels. That would give the viewer a "reason" for the exposed air frame and allow you display the guts? Just an old fart thought.

      Good idea. Only wish you had the model with the clear plastic side although your stringers may actually be better.

      Replacing bullet riddled panels with exposed stringers is the perfect solution to the interior. I definitely would do it. It would be a shame to totally cover up that gorgeous interior. If I remember correctly there was a guy on LSP that used to build areas with exposed stringers. I honestly forgot who he was but the work was incredible
