I know this will sound really dumb, but what is the benefit of making CAD drawings? How does it translate over to actually building a physical model? Can the info be imported into a CNC machine program and create the parts? Sorry, I'm sure a lot of you will shake your heads when seeing this one.
    Thanks

This is not a dumb question at all. The CAD drawings you see some of the builders involved with translate to a 3 D printer that makes the kit parts actually printing them in 3 D. The CAD drawing becomes the masters. You don't need to first build a prototype and then make molds. That's what TDR Newbie. Dumb question. does. It's very new and it's called rapid prototyping Newbie. Dumb question. . If you check the site www.TDRinnovations.com , you'll be able to see the results of the CAD work. The parts come out with a rougher surface than injected molded plastic which makes more finishing necessary, but the fit of the parts is great. Hope this is the answer you're looking for.

Thanks for the reply. I checked out that website. Do they actually make parts for individuals, or is it too costly to do single items?

I'm not sure to be honest. The best thing to do is contact one of the partners. They're all here on the site. Contact Daytonatim, Don Garrett, or Rick. They'll give you the lowdown.

Thank you Don, my name is Glen. I imagine the parts I want made will not be something they are going to want to put in their catalog. I don't see too many people building the off road motorcycles.
