I am trying to find information on the colours used for the Type 35 Bugattis that were used in a racing configuration, circuit or hill climb? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Runt,
if you are wanting information on French Racing Blue then Herman another SMC member should be able to help you. In the members gallery you will find pictures of a 1/8th scale Type 35 that I have built. Through research I believe the blue it is painted is a very close match. For more info send me a PM.
Cheers

Hey Runt, welcome to the site. Herman is definitely the guy you need to contact. He's one of our resident Bugatti experts and has a huge wealth of info on a site of his own. If he can't answer the question, the answer doesn't exist. Enjoy the site.

Nice question...

The colours of the cars were basicly dependant on the country the racer was driving for:

France: blue
UK: green
Netherlands: Orange
Switserland: Red/white
Belgium: Yellow
etc. See below the diagrams that I have on Bugatti photo server - Home

Click the picture, then click the picture on the page that appears, to see it in larger format.

Hello John,

Thanks very much for your reply. I’ll be surfing over to the member’s gallery to see your Type 35 build. Looking forward to that. Being new to SMC I’m a little slow in finding my why around yet. Also, I’ll send you a PM for more information as you suggest about matching the French Racing Blue. .

By the way, it’s nice to meet you.

Hey Hot Bugatti Type 35 racing colours Ford Coupe,

Thanks for the welcome to SMC. I’m already enjoying the forum and what appears to be a grand place for information, how too to get the job done, etc. Seen some wonderful work already. Part of what got me here was Dainel making a special run of the SMC Bugatti decals in a reduced scale for me. I’m looking forward to being a new member.

Nice to meet you also.

P.S. And thanks for the word about Herman. As you can now see in the thread he posted some grand information.

Greetings Herman,

Thanks so very much for your response to my question. I didn’t have any idea the great information you were about to send but John and Hot Bugatti Type 35 racing colours Ford Coupe had given me a heads up to check with you and you beat me to it. Thank you very much. I also took a quick look at your website……wow, what a gold mine of information on Bugatti machines.

A big thanks to SMC too for being here and making this all possible. Let my learning begin.

Thanks again to all of you.

All the best,

Alright John. Finally beginning to learn how to use the Gallery. Found your Type 35. That's top drawer! You sure give a chap something to strive for. Thanks for letting me know about some of your work. Also saw a smashing Fiat.

Beautiful work.

Hi Runt,

Do you also have a 1:8 Bugatti type 35 kit? If you need any info on Bugattis, well, if it is not on the site, then please ask. For the most part, info is available.

To Sean:
When you click on the picture, then click it again, that is what I have available. no larger, unfortunately.

Hi Herman,
I’m afraid my project is a bit scale short of 1:8 and risking the chance that no one will what to post to a thread I start concerning it here it is out of the brown paper bag.

I found this old 1978 boxing of the kit on ebay and it will be my first venture into scale, though small scale, automobile assembly and detailing. Have been taken by the Bugatti Type 35 for many years and recently I became interested if there were any kits available that I may try my hand at. So, I’m still searching and trying to find what may be available and in the mean time I’ll start my learning with this 1:24 scale Monogram styrene Bugatti Type 35 racing colours kit from yesteryear.

Thanks for the offer of answering a question if I can’t find the answer on your website. I appreciate that very much.

By the way, I should introduce myself to you all. My first name is Patrick and Runt is just my logon username. Every time I try to register on most forums Patrick is always taken so Runt is quick and short for logging on. Now having said that, please feel free to use Runt or Patrick which ever you prefer.

You all have made me feel at home and I thank you for that.

Cheers,
Patrick

Hi Herman,
New member here - David
I'm building a collection of winning cars from the Monaco Grand Prix and trying to find out the color of the Bugatti 35B that Rene Dryfuss drove to win in 1930. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,

Yes, that's it. Seems it's a darker blue than the typical lighter French blue of other Bugatti's.
Thank you!
