Hello all, this will be my 1st offical post since my introduction thread. I informed those who read it that I had made a purchase from Ebay. This would make the, I believe 4th time I have purchased this kit. Now this version is a 1st, you see all the other kits had been produced, packaged and distributed to Hobby Shops from Pocher, the very first one was purchased while stationed in Germany, the 2nd from a shop locally and the other two from Ebay. It is this last one I picked up from the post office today, that has got me the most excited of the rest. Let me start with a brief understanding of what I am talking. The kit is produced by UPC in a yellow ctn, the assembly diagram is labled UPC, but the kit was popped/machined by Pocher, Torino, Italy. UPC def: Universial Powermaster Corp.,Fifth Ave, New York City. Dated material for this kit is 1969, that makes this kit 40 years old! Kit was well maintained, plastic is not brittle, rubber is soft, all metal though the brass is tarnished, is still as new. I was 13 when this kit was maded, I am now 53. I have inventoried and not a single piece is missing. I have read where some said this was a cheap kit that would be improved later in the production, I disagree because I have a close releationship w/this model after 4 builds. Here is some things I like about this kit above the others: 1. Many parts in this kit that are made of brass would turn up later as plastic in later kits. 2. One of the areas that keeps this kit from being finished is the chain for the rear drive wheels, in later versions you assemble, the 1st one of this I built, you got a steel plate that you used to assemble and hammer w/a special punch that spread apart a metal rod that connected link to link. This worked very well to assemble the chain, later kits and that is the ones you get now come with a plastic plate for hammering the parts togeather that if you are not careful you will damage the chain and or the surface you are working on. This kit came with two completely assembled, riveted chains, no kinks and is very plyable, no stiffness, wow. 3. Plastic parts do not show signs of the molds that formed the parts, no push out dots that require filling, nor no molded crack/seams in the plastic parts you get from worn molds, all plastic parts are very crisp and smooth. 4. The front of the raditor does not have the F2 imprinted into the grill, this means if you paint and mask, you get a protypical radiator grill, this is not possible with later kits. 5. Correct front axle, and severial other little items that makes this a great kit, and yes for that collector who is drooling, get you a hanky, this baby is going to be built.
