Hello, my name is Dan from Italy, and i'm professional modeler.
I'm a new entry in this site, and first sorry for my english......
Compliment, many times compliments, your model is a masterpieces, especially engine and mechanics.
Only i have some doubt on body, front wind sheld and rear seat. Looking the few picture there are on Pininfarina eniclopedy it seems that are different.
Of course full size car don't exist more ( i never understand why Mr Giovanni Agnelli obliged to destroy the car )
and the pics that is possible to find are too much few for a real comparation.
I live in Turin, and we hev in the city Museum of car Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia, but is no an easy way to have draws and other.
Compliments again, it is a beautyfull model and i believe you have spend on it thousands hour of work.
To built a kit is a things, hand build a large scale model is another, especially when the original don't exist.
Many thank for your pictures, i'm building a Itala 1907 in 1:8 scale, no Pocher, hand build, and a Mefistofele in 1:8 too.
Sure will be a pleasure for me post some pics of working in progress.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and joined because I have just started building the protar 1/12 fiat. Your replica (that is the only correct term I feel as it is far more than just a model!) is simply stunning and is what brought me to this forum in the fist place looking for references for the protar kit. I have one question which maybe someone here can answer?; there is a large fairing in front of the driver which gives the pronounced hump over the steering wheel (and also another one at the back). These are separate pieces in the protar kit and are depicted as being attached by a row of tiny rivets. I see that you have followed the same pattern. In one of the very few photo's I was able to find on the web of the actual car showing what I think is Bordino at the start line, there is no obvious delineation of this fairing piece in the front and it seems to be blended seamlessly into the actual body panel. Is this correct or has the photo simply been retouched? There is another stock picture of Bordino in the car from a side view but this has clearly been extensively retouched and so isn't very reliable. I'm thinking of blending at least the front fairing into the body and saving myself a ton of replacement rivets but want to know if people think this is clearly wrong. John

Hi John:

Nobody knows exactly how was the car since it was destroyed following the Giovany Agnelli´sinstructions, who was unaware of the existence of this car. PROTAR supposedly is the company who found all the information about this car.

For that reason I followed the Protar model.

Thanks Javier, in that case I think I'll try blending the fairing in as per the photo to see how it looks. I love your build and intend to follow your colour scheme closely as you seem to be the only person who has painted the chassis rails body colour. thanks for the inspiration. John

Javier Thanks for your excellent article on the complete build of the Fiat.I have also chosen to build a 1/8 scale model of the same car,also from scratch with brass and aluminium.I have the chassis and body all built and am about to start on the motor and gearbox assemblies.I will try to get a good affect with these , but not using as many parts as yourself.I have built two 1/8 scale models before this one,a Bugatti T35 and an Alfa P3.I like to make the end product to look like the real car from the outside but limited finish to the engine etc.Once again thanks for the article it has helped very much with my build.

Thanks Javier, you´ve done a magnificent job on building this Fiat and i think it will help me a lot for my own build of the original Protar kit, which i´m going to start after i finished superdetailing the Porsche 910 in 1:12, which is my current project. I think using a few of your techniques to improve especially the body parts, which actually are a bit on the thick side, will make a big impact on this model!
