This is another car that I have worked on in real life. The car resides in the Shuttleworth collection in the UK and has recently had a complete engine and transmission overhaul. As with my previous model, it is built at a. Scale of 2mm to the

1898 Panhard believed to have been a racing car driven by Rene de Nyff in a previous incarnation


due to the complex shape of the engine crankcase, I made wooden moulds and made silicon olds to accept resin


these are the resin
top and bottom half of the crankcase. By
casting
lugs on the bottom, 12ba nuts and bolts are fitted to add realism. The upper crankcase is seen here with the body of the camshaft holder fitted.


the engine has pairs of cylinders. These were made by turning four brass cylinders and then milling each to form the pair. Here they are bolted to the crankcase top flange

the first set of cylinder heads. Unfortunately, I broke two taps attempting to put 14ba treads in them for the exhaust studs. Eventually, I made new heads ou of brass and these were a better choice of material.
