I'm waiting to a clear sheet for completed the Bugatti...
It's time for a new challenge!
It will be of course another french car, the "Avions Voisin Record 1927".

Unfortunately, the real car has been destroyed. My basis will be a re-builded one,
with many genuine parts except the engine, the 8 cylinders has been replaced by a six cylinders.
      Take a look at:
      http://www.automobiles-voisin.fr/e_record_1927.html

So, it will be a replica of... a replica!

      This time 100% scratch built!
First steps, after lot of drawings:

And yes! No paint, no pain…

      Dan.

Dan, great job! Can I ask what gauge of Aluminum you are using to fabricate the nose? Keep up the great work you are doing!

    Hi Ken and thanks!
Glad to see you here. I use 0.3mm (0.0118") aluminum sheets, annealed of course...
What about your E type? Not 1/1 Avions Voisin Record 1927 1/8 one, 1/8 scale one...

    All the best, Dan.

Engine now for display and maybe some future project. We moved to Morro Bay, California and unfortunately had to sell my 1:1 Avions Voisin Record 1927 1/8 . No garage space, plus my back discs went down hill and it w as a struggle just to get in.
Then as a result of my book, Model Expo commissioned me to design model kits for them and they have kept me busy ever since including ship models.
I am in the early stages of researching and have purchased 4 Buick Nailhead 1/8 scale cars resin Avions Voisin Record 1927 1/8 engines to build Tommy Ivo’s Showboat. So far I am doing a great deal of prep work, clean up, and drilling and tapping of bolt holes. The challenge will be working off of photos for reference since plans do not exist. I also purchased 4 tires of the correct size and design, the internet is great for finding items.
I may start a build log once I have enough to post.

    Almost done in one year!!!

    Very nice!

I think I see some pin-stripping outlining on the car, do you plan to do some? -it would be probably the last thing to do.

    Again, very nice work!

My reference to pin stripping was a reference to the old photo which shows some decorative lines painted on to accent the body.

More than any other country, France, did embrace the times with Art Deco and some other movements when it came time to paint their cars.
