Another of my recent Revival builds.

The 1951 Alfa Romeo 159. The lvery is for Bonetto in the 1951 Spanish GP (but I could not resist adding Fangio's name near the cockpit!)

The build is mostly OOB 1/20 Alfa Romeo 159M by Revival with some extra detailing here and there. I have the very detailed 1/20 MFH kit of this car and so this build was something of a practice run for me. The fit and finish on the Revival kits are pretty poor, so lots of effort there. Cant wait to start the MFH kit...

      In the meanwhile...

    Hello again!

Another good build! I also love this car, but I do not have much info on it. Your work is very clean! And vey well photographed!

Are you going to start the MFH kit soon? If you do? please post some in process pictures.

    Hi Don,
    thanks for the kind feedback.

The car is actually very significant as it was the first ever F1 championship car. So, the granddaddy of all the modern F1 racers. When originally built it was called the 158, reflecting its 1.5 litre straight eight engine. The later derivation was the 159. The prototype was built in the late 1930s, and during the war Alfa dismantled all built cars and scattered them all over Italy to prevent them from being discovered by the Germans. After the war the cars were gathered and reassembled and when F1 began they dominated the first two seasons, the 158/159 versions winning 47 of the 54 races it entered. Its most famous pilot was undoubtedly Juan Manuel Fangio.

I have a real affinity for the car, and have four kits of it, as well as a very high end diecast model. One can never have too many Alfas...

    Regards
    Rajen
