I built this in the winter of '82-'83. I remember I got it for a bargain back then too. I found it at a KayBee Toy & Hobby in the mall. It had been marked down from $450 to $300. The yellow I painted it with was a GM color that was available at the time. Duplicolor touch up spray paint. It was an exact match to the pictures I had. I used wood veneer from a cigar tube on the dash. I didn't know how to do faux wood then so I left the steering wheel in plastic. I could probably do it now. Here's a few shots. I should take more pictures.

I won't be able to make a wooded steering wheel. I would just paint it to look like wood. I just didn't know how to do it back when I built the model back in 1982.

Too many models to build and life isn't long enough to build them.

I checked out the link. I think I can buy a steering wheel for my 1:1 Pocher Bugatti Type 50T car for that price. They are beautiful wheels. All this stuff wasn't around in 1982. The only source were the ads in Scale Auto Enthusiast. No internet, no PC's. I still have the Pocher Volvo F16 truck unbuilt. I've seen that going on Ebay for as much as $1700 but I never see anyone bidding on them.
