I'm trying my hand at creating a master. No, not one of me. I've never been happy with the deuce mufflers so I'm trying to create a Flowmaster style muffler. I've taken the muffler from the Corvette kit and filled the hollow with square styrene Muffler Master rod. Once the glue drys, I'll start shaping it and then add the in/outlets. When its finished, it will become the property of SMC for Dan to cast.

Sorry about the picture quality, still haven "mastered" that.

      Rick

That's going to really add to our options. Looking good Rick. l:

Wheeeeeeeeee...........Rick's going to wander into that into that magical, frustrating land of scratch building. Be warned.....there is no turning back.

I've mentioned before it's as easy or difficult as you make it. A good 80% of making a master is think first and build using the K.I.S.S. method.

Gonna mess with ya a bit Rick, looks like you solved the hollow muffler problem by filling the cavity in the Vette part.....problem solved? Yep.

Now lots of sanding Muffler Master , shaping and filling pinholes, right?....did I mention I hate sanding Muffler Master ? Too much effort.....you have 2 Vette kit mufflers, if you remove the bottom half of each one and glue the two remaing halves together you have a complete muffler "master" with just a seam to sand Muffler Master . Easy huh?

Rick...I did the same thing, I get involved in a project and overlook the obvious....sorry 'bout picking on you but it did make me grin. I don't think there are too many members on the forum that have screwed up more stuff than I have.........they used to tell me in the military it was good training, yeah right. I'm just lazy I guess, it takes me just as long to figure out an easy approach as it does to just go ahead and do it. That's one of the gremlins with building masters. I kinda figure if I point out some of my coulda, woulda, shoulda attempts it'll make it a little less intimadating for the guys that have been reluctant to try scratchbuilding.

I'll meet you in the parking lot (Daytona Race) one of these years and we can duke it out there....now that would be somethin' to see, 2 old guys thumpin' on each other. Think I'll go pick on Jeff for awhile.:D

I was afraid I was going to get my cage rattled. Don likes to mess with everyone. Hey Rick, Don's embarrassed me a bunch of times too but you know, that's what keeps me sharp and thinking. Not that I still don't take the long way around but I think more about it now. Scratchbuilding may be frustrating and pesky but it really gets the blood going. I think I'll open that fresh box of crayons now. I wonder what the flavor of the month is.
