Here's an old school tip for ya.........

Want to clear coat Clear Coat a model but are concerened about reactions with your finish coat? Try Future Floor Wax Clear Coat ...it's a liquid....wipe it on, it's self leveling and water based so it won't turn yellow with age. Multiple coats can be applied...just give it plenty of time to dry between coats....can be wet (very fine paper) sanded and buffed between coats. You don't have to do the entire body at once, use a body seam as a breaking point....be careful not to get a run! Aplpy light coats. It's cheap and non-toxic and your model can be easily dusted or wiped with a damp cloth with no damge to the finish.:D

Used to do my brass belt buckle, boots and dress shoes in the military with the stuff....after a good spit-shine of course.

Have to experiment with the wipe-on method. I've air brushed the stuff on 1/25 th models and it easily wants to run. A dehydrator set at 95-100 degrees works great at cutting down the drying time. I've seen other guy's finished product with Future and the gloss is as good as it gets.

Bob...use a lint free soft whatever to apply it...don't worry if it doesn't look perfectly smooth it will level out....just don't fuss with it, put it on and leave it be for a bit. Spaying doesn't work well for me...been there done that. If you fool with it and get where you are comfortable applying it.....you can get a mile deep show car finish. Properly handled....there is nothing on the market that will compete....takes a little practice but you wind up with a near indestuctible finish that will not yellow (water, not petro based)....dude, people walk on this stuff.:D

To amplify what has been saidl: , Great Models Webstore started selling this to polish out canopies on aircraft models, as a local IPMS Clear Coat member showed the owner how it worked and said that there was someone selling it on ebay, why not do it also. It does work. I have used it to simulate vinyl upholstery by applying it to flat tamiya Clear Coat and rub it until the luster reaches the desired level.
If anyone wishes to clear coat Clear Coat lacquer Clear Coat or a urethane Clear Coat , Dupont has a "water clear" clear lacquer Clear Coat that won't yellow and dries quite quickly being sold under the label of 380S.

I've used this stuff with good success. This 53 Ford was cleared with Future straight out of an airbush with no further polishing, just spray and walk away...

Play with it on a test body first. It's not paint and doesn't behave the same way as paint. Once you get used to its flow characteristics, you can get some amazing shine with little to no effort. l:

Now that's what I call a shine. Great work.

Yes, that's the Lindberg 53 Ford kit. Fantastic kit, by the way... go get one while you can!

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm pretty pleased with how that one turned out.

I love that kit. It's one of the best ones they ever put out. By the way, I forgot to mention that not only is the shine outstanding, but so is the design on the custom. That's first rate stuff. Imagine that in 1/8 scale.

Airbrush Clear Coat un-thinned, straight out of the bottle. Turn your air pressure down a little and away you go.

Just set it and forget it!
