Well - after a year of planning and design, work on 'The Revenge' has finally begun. Fabrication on the engine block is coming along nicely and the frame rails are starting to look like, well... frame rails.

If you all want, I'll post periodic pictures of the build as she progresses over the the next nine to twelve months. I can just make this the "official" thread or open some new ones time-to-time.

Anyway - I just finished the major fabrication on the leaf springs. After I finish the polishing and buffing (and fitting onto the frame rails), they'll be off to the platers for chrome.

This is going to be a massive project, but I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

      Andy.

Looking real good, Andy. Keep posting on this thread so it all stays in one place. That would be easier on me and the other scratchbuilding beginners on the site. If you could post a few interim shots of the engine a frame, that would help me immeasurable as I make my GM twins, especially when you get to body formation and mounting. Also, when you do your engines, do you put in the internal structures like pistons and valves to show later or do you just go for the outside only? Thanks so much for your help. I may even tell you what I'm making before Thursday so I can pick at your brain a bit.

Jeff - I fully detail the engines with rockers, cranks, pistons - the whole nine yards. Once I complete assembly, they disappear, but I still have pictures of them which I can use to verify their existance. Even though they never get seen, I like the fact that they are in there. Plus, for me, it makes the project that much more fun since I feel like I'm really building a car.

Once I'm done fabricating the exhaust, and I've shot some primer Ezno's Revenge , I'll get some pictures of the block up here. The big challenge for me right now is designing an exhaust manifold for an engine that was never designed to power an automobile.

In terms of the chassis, I don't know if I'm going to use short or long rails at this point. I have a set of 109" (in scale) rails as well as a set of 134". I prefer the shorter set, but this engine is so big that I don't know if they have enough room for the engine in front and a false pick-up bed in back. As soon as I figure that out, I'll put up some pics.

Things are getting exciting though. The leather for the interior finally arrived, the engine ignition and electrical system wire is in production and a I just got a set of mock-ups of the wheels back - they are going to look great.

    I'll keep you posted.

    Andy.

Killer is right Glu. This project just may kill me.

Trying to get all the frame geometry and drivetrain layouts correct is a real challenge. It seems like I can't finish any one part because everything is so dependant on everything else.

At this point, I think I'm going to push the front axle out about half an inch past the front horns and mount it above the frame rails.

Enzo's Revenge is going to be much more of a project than I had originally thought. Especially since I'm not entirely sure what it's going to look like when I'm done. :o

Then we'll all be surprised when it's done. I'm sure that we all would gain alot as we see it being done.

Thanks Don. I got a nice suprise yesterday when the axle and engine mounts returned from the chrome platers. They look great. Kinda gave me a boost of energy that I desparately needed. I've got a big model show tomorrow and hopefully I can spend Sunday fabricating the chassis cross-members, shock mounts and engine mounts.

    Andy.

Pictures, pictures, pictures PLEEEEEEEEEZZZE and thank you. You've now solved my spring fabrication problem. Now I'm in the middle of perfecting the valley pan on the Cad 390 if that's what it's called where the push rods go and it looks pretty good so far. I've never seen the underside of the engine without the oil pan in place, but I have the visible 1/4 Hemi kit unbuilt. I'll look there before I start asking questions about it. It should give me a starting point. ----- ----- WAIT JUST ONE DANG MINUTE !!!!! I've just remember the project I always wanted to do that Don , Dan and myself talked about early on. Instead of doing the Buick Riviera now, I'm going to start the scratchbuilt 1/4 scale flathead I wanted to build at that time but didn't know how and do the Buick after that. Oh far out. I can use the Hemi as a guide and use my new scratchbuilding skills to finally be able to build the thing. Now all I have to do is figure out how to master the thing so a kit can be made. Inspiration comes when you least expect it. :) :) :) Hey Don, Hey Dan, it's finally going to be a reality.

Give me a few more days and I'll have pictures of the wheels and engine block online. I've got to get the Rolls-Royce and Ferrari 126 C2 ready for a show tomorrow. I should have some more progress to report on Sunday.

Jeff - I wanna see that 1:4 Hemi. But wait a minute, if you build a small, scaled down version of a hemi, does that make it a semi-hemi
