It doesn't seem possible that I completed her 5 years ago. The Satin Doll - a 1:8 scale replica of a 1931 Rolls-Royce Continental Coupe - was started on November 12, 2002 and completed on November 3, 2004.

She started out as Pocher K-72 - The Sedanca. I rebuilt the body turning it into a Coupe and redesigned the engine to reflect the configuration of the Continental.

Overall - the entire build required about 1700 hours. The interior follows the prototype with leather seats, hand-rubbed walnut dash and door crowns and wool carpets. The body features a chopped roof that has been converted from Sedanca to Coupe. The scuttle, doors and bonnet, and boot all had to be refabricated and the wings and running boards were also redesigned.

As I look back on her today, I see hundreds of things that I should have done differently and could have done better. But she was my first IPMS The Satin Doll Best of Show winner and the project that encouraged me to take on bigger and more complicated scratch-built projects.

To this day, she holds a special place in my heart. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

      Andy.

I now realize I should have been more specific.

WELL DONE !!! Absolutely well done. Now this is the way things should be set up for a build like this. Many Kudos to Andy for doing such a wonderful job on the Rolls and many Kudos to Dan for setting up the link so well. Dan, you've just taken us to the next level.
