Well - it's been three years since my last post here. Anything interesting going on? I'll spare everyone the details, but I finally got my new workshop and metal shop opened and I'm back at the bench.

My hot He's Baaaaaaack rod - Enzo's Revenge - is on hold for a bit. Right now I'm doing a 1:8 1931 Alfa Romeo rolling chassis with a second display engine. I'm using the Pocher kit as the base with lots of scratch building.

I've really missed the hobby and all my friends here on the site. It's great to be back.

      Andy.

    Be very welcome, Andy....

Where can I see ALL the pics you once had of your great Pocher Rolls build?
They used to be in Carriage House, but the site is now closed...

    Thanks

Ahhh... The Satin Doll. It doesn't seem like six years since I started that project. I'm flattered that you remembered her Mario. I've toyed with the idea of putting up a new web site, but given the amount of time it takes to keep it current, that's probably not practical.

If people are interested though, I'd be happy to post a bunch of pictures here. I also have a 200+ page PDF file that details the entire build in words and pictures. Maybe there's a way I could post that if people really want to read it.

Don - Good to talk to you again old friend. I have LOTS of catching up to do. The last few years have been insane and altogether unpleasant. But I have a new place of my own, a wonderful new workshop and the time I've always wanted to sit at the bench.

How have you been? What have you been working on?

Hey Andy, man am I glad to see you back!! I missed all of your great inspiration and those great pics you posted. There have been a number of great things happening on the site and a bunch of new folks with more talent than you can shake a stick at. I'm really looking forward to seeing what else you have going. I can't wait to see what you do with the Alfa. Again, it's great to have you back.

I would be eternally grateful if you could mail me that PDF on the >Satin Doll at:

    mlucchini@gmail.com

On the other hand, we have a lot of modelers here at SMC who are in different stages of the Rolls build who will appreciate it!

    Thanks much

Mario - the document is broken up into seven parts and consumes nearly 600 meg (about 250 hi-res photos included).

I'll see what I can do to get the PDF posted here at the site of the web master is OK with it.

    G`day andy
I`m a newbie here and would love a copy of the PDF. I`ve just spent ages going through some of your old posts and am very impressed with the quality of your work.
If you cant get the file hosted here why not upload it to rapidshare or one of the other file hosting mobs and post the links here, that way anyone interested could get a copy without you having to send out heaps of large emails
    Cheers

I think I'll probably start a thread here in the Forum and upload a bunch of pictures of my build of The Satin Doll. I can do that tonight.

From there, I'll work on figuring out a way to distribute the build journal.

    Andy.

You are all very generous, however I have no desire to "sell" my journals, pictures or techniques. I have a dear friend who is my modeling mentor. He has taught me more than I ever could have figured out myself and he's never charged me a dime or held back.

The joy I get being part of this community is worth far more than anything I'd ever charge for a few photos.

For those of you however who are desparate to get rid of some of your money, I ask that you do this. Buy a level 1 kit, some glue, some paint and a few brushes and drop it off at a local school or family shelter. Or invite the son or daughter of a friend to come with you to a model show.

I pay my mentor back by sharing with others. And that's the only payment I ask for in return. Help raise the next generation of modelers and car enthusiasts. Too many kids spend their entire life never seeing a Duesenberg, not knowing what a Hi-Boy is and never experiencing the joy of turning a box of pieces into a hand-built source of pride.

    Andy.
