I have been reading about replacing the cast bolt heads on engines with real ones, but finding the correct scale bolts very hard. Does anyone have suggestions with how to find them? I would like to use real bolts on the engine and maybe the whole car. I am not sure if this is just a dream or if I can really do it. I just finished the Fiat without doing alot of upgrades but would like to do more upgrades with the Mercedes. The thought of putting real bolt heads sounds like a good start.

90% of what you need is right here on SMC. You can still use our old cart system to place a Paypal order. Heres the link.

    http://www.scalemotorcars.com/index....eid=hardware#C

The 00-90 Scale Hex Bolts for Mercedes 500 or 2.mm (need to fix that) are what you'll use the most of. The 1.4mm or 000-120 Scale Hex Bolts for Mercedes 500 nuts are the 2nd. You can use these with wire rather then spend so much on the micro screws. Looks the same.

Theres a legend there that will give you an approx ideal on 1/1 Scale Hex Bolts for Mercedes 500 sizes or just use the scale calculator to figure any other sizes.

FYI the shipping is usually correct but if it seems high let me know and Ill figure a custom invoice for you. Normal shipping even international is usually only a few dollars.

Thanks for the quick response. I am not sure what I need. Are you saying that the size 90 are the same size as the plastic bolt heads that are on the Mercedes engine? I want to sand Scale Hex Bolts for Mercedes 500 down the plastic bolt heads on the whole model and replace them with real bolts. I thought I read in a post that 90s and the 120s are still too big. It might have been for a Bugatti, not a mercedes. I do not remember. I do not have the model yet, it is supposed to be here tomorrow( according to the Fedex tracking website). Any idea of about how many bolt heads and screws I will have to sand Scale Hex Bolts for Mercedes 500 and replace?

The 1mm are to small for most of the bolts. I'm referring to chassis and engine detail mostly. The best thing to do is wait until your kit arrives then measure the bolts you want to remove then compare to the list on the link I gave you. Remember Pocher bolts are usually slightly bigger then they should be.

Once you know what you want to replace then let me know how many and I'll work out a deal for you.

Replacing all is very expensive so I suggest just what you can readily see.

Also consider the 1.4 faux hardware. Its the best for size and price. The color is correct also and will not need painting or plating. Just a light buff with a brass brush and install. Doesn't get much easier.

I dont want to hijack the thread, but what sizes would I most likely use for 1/12 scale? Or how would I be able to find out.

    Hey chevyrsss!
I use almost exclusively Dan's hardware on my builds, except for special hardware I scratchbuild myself....with very good results...according to me!...
For results see any of my postings....good luck!

As for how many bolt heads & screws you'll have to sand Scale Hex Bolts for Mercedes 500 & replace....ZILLIONS!
