I don't want to block Thorestons cool Vette build above so I'm going to post this here. As you know, I'm modifying an MF Willys Coupe and after a lot of surgery its now a roadster. Part of the surgery involved modifying the front fenders to accept Jag headlights. Because of the complex curves of the Jag lenses, I just couldn't make them fit and I went into a panic becaue I'd already opened up the fenders.
This morning as I was takeing out the garbage, I noticed something that I thought might work. One of my Xmas presents was a set of swimming goggles (yes Don, I'm also a swimmer) and the clear packaging they came in had two molded dimples in which the eye pieces sat. After minimal trimming, these two pieces of molded clear plastic are a perfect fit for my custom headlights! The headlight openings just need a little more trimming and some smear. I'll glue the plastic lenses to the inside of the fenders after they've been painted. The moral of the story is this...........before you throw anything out, ask yourself if you can use it.
Before I any further its time to start thinking about a chassis, engine, trans and suspension.
