Like Mario told me Rick, never ever give up on modeling. It's just too bad that I don't have the capability to make video tutorials so you can actually see how easy it really is. It tends to fool you into thinking it's impossible stuff. That's how I used to look at it until the techniques and procedures were de-mystified. Don gave me the encouragement to try some of the stuff and before I knew it, it was being done. Also, don't forget that Mario is an architect which involves a great deal of drawing and modeling and I'm a dentist which also involves a ton of serious hand work. We both sort of came to the table with those building skills already refined. With a bit of practice and encouragement, you can do exactly the same thing I do. With a lathe and some really good instructions, you can do what Mario can do. A lot of it is desire and perseverence, no secrets.

One little little addendum, I have to repeat many times a part until I'm satisfied with it, it's a bore I know, but after achieving that, I sleep like a baby!
When you look at a part & want to EAT it, it's ready...

You know, Mario, I forgot about that point. It's exactly the same way with me. The piston you see before you is actually the sixth attempt at getting it even close to right. That's why it takes me so long to complete things. I redo stuff alot. If it doesn't come out right the first time, I redo until it does. Whenever I see someone best my own performance, it pushes me, no, it inspires me to do better. The philosophy is always "Unless I'm limited by a lack of equipment I can't afford, if he can do it, I can also.

Hi-tech equipment, puters and state of the art machinery are all great things.....but keep in mind when us ol' timers were building rods a handful of wrenchs, torch set and a welding machine were what was available. We still love those cars to this day.
Point is, don't let lack of expensive tools stop ya....your most important tool is your imagination....with it you CAN accomplish just about anything you set your mind to, after all.....that's what makes it fun.
