View Full Version : 41 Willys pick up stroller

Here are some update shots of the stroller..This is all done with a drill press welder and basic hand tools and no machine work ...what ever we can find in the scrap box.. the coils are from an electric wheel chair and the moon tank is made from 2 broken aluminum ball bats...Talk about "field expedience" May not be true to scale but its still cool.... more to come..

Yea hes got the 1/4 scale I gave him but ill have to swap the tube headers for the stock headers from another on I have so we dont have to cut the frame... It will be a cool little stroller..Now he wants to try to complete before December so he can enter it in the "world of wheels" in January...Pressure is on..he1he

"How is your project coming? Anxious to see what you have done so far...."

I was going to finish the chassis over the weekend but when I went to the workshop we decided to fix the tractor to save $2500
at the dealers and then converting 2 more "devices" to fire blanks which was a paying job. Also my camera is dead but I'll have some more stuff finished soon and pictures.

Works gotta come first...Gotta pay the bills and paying the bills pays for the hobby... later

10-07-12, 03:17 PM
Worked on the stroller this morning..(Well took some measurements ) My buddy has decided to make a gasser style front axle so im making a set of leafs for it Will make from .078 " stainless and roll the arch and stack, then set the arch as he wants it and tig little tacks along the leaf edges so they will retain their arch..(Wont be functional) but will have the look Then polish the edges ..Should look pretty cool..Here are some pics of the stance he wants.

The first one is before when it was lowered..The next 2 are with the gasser look

And he still wants to finish this puppy before Christmas and enter in World of Wheels in January WHEW !!!!!!

Made some leafs from 14 ga stainless and found some stainless standoffs to use for the spring eyes. They are already threaded for 10-32 so he can make the shackles and attach easier. Ill tig them to the faux springs this weekend (maybe) not sure he will be able to work on it until next week.. Found some 1/2 square stainless tube to cut up and use for the spring perches on the front axle. Then we have to figure out the steering mechanics so it will steer from the push handle thru a series of bell cranks and rods....Hope to post some more update pics soon.. Should be pretty cool...

10-18-12, 05:57 PM
Working on the stroller Sunday 1yeah1..Tigging up the chassis and making the front leafs and axle...Ill post some pics that evening.. should be looking good..

Here are some shots of what we did this morning..I rolled some 14 ga stainless and stacked to look like leafs and we made a couple of spring perches from some 1/2 stainless tube then tigged all together ...He will be making the shackles and shackle mounts this week ...mocked it up for pics.... Also making u bolts and plates to simulate the the attachment to the axle...So far pretty cool

Stopped by my buddies to check on the stroller build..Here are a couple of pics of the progress..

2323623237 Going to try to have the body in primer by April 13th "Big Daddy" Don Garlits is going to be at our local strip with the one of the old front engine "Swamp Rats" (actually going make some short passes) so he wants to take his grandson and tote him around in the stroller..

02-14-13, 09:15 PM
I was thinking about this build earlier today. It's looking really cool, glad you caught us up man. That's one lucky young lad, cruising the strip in a sweet ride with grandpa AND might get to meet Big Daddy Don Gartlits. Gotta admit, I'm kinda jealous!

Rock on little man!!! 1thumbup11thumbup11thumbup1

Insane Dude!!! This really should be a 15 speed peddle car instead of a stroller. How about some disc brakes with cable control on the push bar?

Sadly my friend Steve has been hospitalized..Almost lost a leg due to Diabetes ...He is getting better but wont be able to work on the stroller for a good bit..I will try to help him finish it in the coming weeks ..He had plans to take it out on its maiden "stroll" with his grandson at one of the big Mopar events In Ga. on June 6th so ill do my best to see if we cant meet that deadline...

04-30-13, 12:23 AM
Being a diabetic myself, that scares the hell out of me! My prayers are with him!
