you can see that i have it apart, its at the point where i dont want to go to far ahead untill i get the top chassis rails painted .after this part the chassis will be complete and i dont have to go back to it.
this is also where all of the rear wiring is done. i also notice the fenders and rear lower section rubbed. so i had to bring each fender out 1mm.

a really nice guy suggested to make the tranny look like an engine. he sent pictures and info
the only thing i couldnt really do is get a true scale of what i need.also with all the accessories on the engine i coulnt really get a clear view.
so i went with what i can see and guest work. a thanks to the guys for the info and pictures. hopefully everybody like what i did
i had another set of tranny covers. added some heads, valve covers, screws, intake mantifold and some paint.
theres a front plate that goes on the front of the engine. if i can get picture of this area, i can probably come up with something

Ohh. What a bummer, man. I read somewhere, when I started doing this model stuff, that you must take into consideration the weight of the material you're going to use and the strength of the supporting components. So my first car's wheels collapsed after I had it almost finished, all brass and plastic spindles. Awesome experience! Does this fire truck hold a water reserve at close to 7lbs per gallon? Good luck buddy, you make it stronger, faster than it was before.

new frame cut
i went with a shorter leaf spring and with 6 leafs each
this time i laid 30 pounds on it and didnt give
also added 3rd axle with rear steer
i need to remake rear fenders , outer tanker longer and make a 3rd box that goes behind the front box
so this went from a t1500 to t3000. im hoping no body is dissappointed as i had no option for the upgrade
i have an awesome surprize what im adding to the truck too

i made rear fenders
im going with a different motor and tranny for torque, this truck will be heavier then the 4x4, needing more power
the engine compartment will be empty . i have the perfect solution for that area
i just got word my water tank is ready
tomorrow i should have fenders in paint and be back on track

huge question for the guys who work on or drive these trucks
i have to redue my rear lower panel. 080 plastic isnt thick enough.
anyway , question is, if this truck had to pull a trailer, what would the trailer consist of? needing ideas
i was going to attach a pintle and ring on the bumper with a electric/power output
but need an idea that would be realistic

here small up date

the lower rear panel is remade. i went to a .125 thickness plastic. the 060 and 080 wasnt good enough. lesson learned
i received in my tank , fit perfect. holds almost a gallon
ive installed a electric output

me and the wife took a vaction finally after 18 years and boy did we need that
well im back and did alot of searching for ideas
last time i posted i stated i had to remake the the lower rear panel due to not being strong enough
any body doing this size of truck, .080 and .060 walls are not thick enough
i had to remake with .125 and use bracing. for the center water tank compartment i bought rectangle tubing for making an interstructure.warping on something this size is your worse enemy
have to say, im still learning everyday. for as i can see ,everything is ok now and i can move forward :D
enginr comartment is on,rear lower panel is mounted, you can see ive added a working outlet and all rear wiring is done
if anybody see a structure flaw ,please let me know

i will top it off with a peice of diamond plate too
there a door next to the step.for some reason they look chrome. so made it out of .040 styrene and chrome decal, added some screw
the top front boxes is about ready for paint. im going to add a top lamp

hey evrybody, really sorry about leave of absense here.
i had huge mishap with the firetruck, i was installing the electronic for the boom and the electronic compartment started to have a serious melt down. bottom line was i loss i all of it . very expensive booboo. it wiped out most of the lights too. sooooo i had to tare it down and basically start over . so while i have it apart i will do some upgrades, ive paint chassis, change the tires and rims, upgraded the servos ,added anothe axle etc. ive also went from a 6x6x4 to and 8x8x6.
what was taking so long that i really had to get over the melt down. im sure we have all been there one time or another. so enough of this and let get started

Yep, use to fly R/C. Had a 96" wingspan Leer Jet, twin ducted fans and the works...almost $20k and lost signal on it's maiden flight, went into a concrete wall at full throttle. Took me alomost three years to get back into the air.

I was at Witchita Feed & Hardware a while back and decided to ask about 00-90 stainless bolts. The guys brings out a 3# box and asks, "How many do you want?" All I could say was "More then that!"

This is where I get most of my nuts and bolts.

Fastener Express - Socket Head Cap Screws, Metric Screws , Fasteners and Anodized Aluminum for the Hobby Industry. (http://www.fastener-express.com/)

I really like the socket head cap screws but 00-90s are $.50 each. Brass hex heads are much cheaper but in my opinion they do not look as good.

Not really, I just go there to buy dog, cat and horse food. They have a reputation locally as the place to get what you can't find anywhere else so while I was therre I asked.

Hi Joe. Great comeback after such a bad accident1clap1. Glad you didn't get fried. Looks like you saved a few parts from the burnt one.

I love that Cat C15 twin turbo engine1thumbup1. Is it from a 1:14th scale Tamiya R/C truck? Where can I get one? I just want the engine only, not the truck.

I drove a Kenworth T604 (thats my avatar photo) with a Cat C15 and 18 speed for 2 years. Fantastic set-up.

Great work mate 1clap1

so when it came to the lights on the rear engione compartment , i was right , they all were burnt. soooooooooooooo, time to break out some new ones . i have rc4wds bruiser light kit here, perfect for what i need for running lights. i use 2 sets, 4 reds and 4 yellow, did some splicing. plugs right into the receiver , later i will add and on/off swith, the bumper lights are fine. ive also added a back up light top center

today im going to show you how im making my search lights

i start with a basic r/r light kit from china, it was about 11.00 usd

whats nice about its 1/10 scale and it plugs right into your receiver or a 4.8 battery pack
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/images/imported/2013/05/94.jpg (http://s247.photobucket.com/user/rarearcher/media/new%202013/SANY2251.jpg.html)
next i cut each light bucket from the main light bar, keeping the main bar as a part of the light bucket. next i cut a hollow round plastic tube for the neck, next i drilled a small hole in the tip of the tube and the light bucket , this will let the light buckets tilt
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/images/imported/2013/05/95.jpg (http://s247.photobucket.com/user/rarearcher/media/new%202013/SANY2253.jpg.html)
next i ran small wiring through the rod and attached the light buckets with 2 micro screws
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg126/rarearcher/new%202013/SANY2254.jpg (http://s247.photobucket.com/user/rarearcher/media/new%202013/SANY2254.jpg.html)

semijoe
05-15-13, 12:01 PM
next i cut 3 pieces of shrink tube and cut one of the lights off the main
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/images/imported/2013/05/96.jpg (http://s247.photobucket.com/user/rarearcher/media/new%202013/SANY2255.jpg.html)
ok, this is how i did this end of it, now i have to make 3 more, after this i will show you how to do the other end of it
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/images/imported/2013/05/97.jpg (http://s247.photobucket.com/user/rarearcher/media/new%202013/SANY2256.jpg.html)
all 4 are made, next step . i drill a whole in the deck of the truck. the piece will be glued in
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/images/imported/2013/05/98.jpg (http://s247.photobucket.com/user/rarearcher/media/new%202013/SANY2258.jpg.html)

semijoe
05-15-13, 12:22 PM
next i cut another sleeve that fits over light bucket pole but is smaller then the deck sleeve . will also attach the wire tip/plug
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/images/imported/2013/05/99.jpg (http://s247.photobucket.com/user/rarearcher/media/new%202013/SANY2259.jpg.html)
next i flipped the deck upside down, yellow/black wires are the 4 search lights, the red/black with white tips are for extras light for boom later. the red/black wire with black tip is power for the lights
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/images/imported/2013/05/100.jpg (http://s247.photobucket.com/user/rarearcher/media/new%202013/SANY2260.jpg.html)

I was not going to, but that was me being alittle scare from the last meltdown. but im over that

I just purchased a lighter water tank and went with a different kind of pump. still searching for a siren

this will be fully functional as planned
