Our next Scalemotorcars event is an "ENGINE BUILDING CONTEST" and will be held here during the August 16th & 17th weekend. The rules are simple:

**This is a members only event, registration required.
**This is a contest and prizes will be awarded.
**Any large scale (1/12th and up) model car, boat, plane or motorcycle engine is eligible.
**Engine's can be from a kit, the aftermarket or scratchbuilt.
**Maximum of 8 photos may be submitted for judgeing.
**No limit on how many entry's per member.

Sorry, I can't announce catagories until we secure more prizes. As of this writing, I can confirm two prizes: a new 8th scale Allison kit and a fully detailed 8th scale flathead built by Jeff. More on prizes soon.

All site members (including moderators) can compete. The Judge(s) will be someone (perhaps a professional engine builder) not associated to Scalemotorcars. In order to make this event a success, and to attract quality prizes we need a minimum of twelve members to compete, thus the registration requirement. To register, please submit your name HERE, NOW.

As soon as we decide where to put the Show & Shine thread, we'll move this to the Events page.

Engine contest huh? Sounds like fun.
I bought a couple of those metal 1/6th engines a while back...a 426 Hemi "Street" version with 2-4's and the Blown Injected "Race" version. Neither one is suitable for the 1/6th Willy PU I'm tinkering with. So I'm going to combine them and build a Blown 426 Hemi Pro-Street engine with 2 four barrel carbs.

Rick sez we need at least 12.....that just dropped to 11. Bob, drag out that Blue Oval of yours. I'm going to start mine tomorrow. Rick....being this contest is for members only do you want to post "in progress" shots as we go on our merry way so that there is stuff to look at before the deadline?

Nope, I want you guys to keep your builds under wraps until showtime. If there's enough interest in this event, we'll include space for tips, tricks and tutorials during the event weekend.

Rick, here's what I will do. I'll go ahead and build that fully detailed flathead. It'll be considered my entry into the contest and then it can be given away as the prize. That way, folks will be able to see it before they get it. I'm ineligible for the prize anyway so I think it will work out fine. I'll be using a deuce kit engine so that the time length of the build won't be long as if I do a full scratchbuild. There'll be enough detail that it will be well worth the effort. As time goes on, I can even post in progress pics so the winner whoever that may be can see the engine develop before their eyes. It may be a nice enticement for folks to put in an entry. Said engine can be used either for a stand alone or to put into a build.

Moderators can participate in this one Jeff, thats why we'e going to look for an outside Judge. Go ahead on the Flathead, but also feel free to build something else.

Lets not let this run away on us guys.

OK Dan, you walked into a mine field on this one. You know I want you to enter one of your "kit" engines. I don't care which one (including Big AL) it is, just build it and detail it with SMC off the shelf stuff. I'll even accept it as a giveaway, in addition to the Big Al kit and Jeffs flatty.

OK. An engine I can squeeze time in for. A flathead for sure but I'm not sure about the Ardun. Been wanting to finish up the Thickston or try a Riley.

    Riley Conversion.

    Maybe a Smith...

    Or the Thickston...
