''STRUT YOUR STUFF" SHOW / CONTEST RULES & REGISTRATION

ELIGILBILTY
Must be a current member of Scale Motorcars
1/16th or larger scale model.......Car - Truck - Motorcycle - Engine / Chassis
(Boats eligible if powered by automotive engine or in tow behind car or truck)
Moderators & administration are eligible as the judging will be done by members


SHOW DATES
NOVEMBER 1st, 2011 to JULY 31st 2012

JUDGING
Judging will be conducted in the form of a "members" poll at the conclusion of the event with SMC trophies awarded based on the number of member votes submitted in each category
by
SMC members
Minimum 6 photographs of FINISHED model along with description of special features etc. posted between June 1st - July 31st 2012
( A special section, at a later date, will be set up in the forum for the show entries, it would however be to your benefit to post in-progress photos in the forum during construction as some of your work may be hidden in your finished photos........keep in mind the judging will be done by SMC members who regularly view the forum).

Register in this thread for the event......you must register (even if currently a member) to be eligible for awards.
When you register, consider a short description of what you will be entering....you can have more than one entry.....models that have been entered in other events or previously won model of the month are not eligible.
There will be door prizes awarded in the form of kits etc.
Winners be be determined by a random drawing from the names of everyone who entered a finished model....that way every entry has a chance to win.

I'll be building this kit

Not sure what direction I'm going to go with it yet but I'll be building it in the large scale section for those interested. If you do an in progress "contest" build, please mention so in the headline of your first post so that all the members can eyeball it (remember, the members are the judges).
Gang, start registering........otherwise I'll win all the trophies and door prizes !

Ok, I might sound quite dumb now, but what does 'strut your stuff' exactly mean? I have a good knowledge of English, but I am not familiar with this phrase.

It's just "slang" intended to mean show off your models.

Yes, Ive done my best to simplify the rules. I've tried to level the playing field a little so that the members who don't have as much experience as some of our pro builders do can still enter and win.

It's important that everyone remembers that the members of SMC will be the judges for trophies...........my thinking is that the members will look at the completed models and base their votes on creativity & imagination and just how much passion the individual put into the build.
The amount of money spent or skills in areas like scratch-building, machining, etc. really shouldn't determine the winners.
In other words, if someone builds a model that the majority of the voters really like.......it'll win a trophy even if there is a little orange peel in the paint.
Anyway, you guys will pick the winners, so how fair the judging is depends on you.
There will be no beefs about unfair judging as you will be giving credit where you feel it's due......fair enough?

I was in the middle of building an airplane but I can easily switch to something contest worthy. I still haven't finished the Jag. Maybe that one.
